There
was quite a crowd of us this week, for jewellery making. All gathered around
the 2 tables, with a third table stuffed full of materials; jars of beads,
bowls of buttons, bags of wool-tops for felting. There were ribbons, embroidery
threads, fabric flowers, elastic thread and wire of various lengths and
thickness.
Everyone got stuck in and began producing
items at quite a pace.
A
headband garland was created by positioning fabric roses at intervals along a length
of wire, and then tightly winding embroidery thread along it all. It coiled
around elegantly to decorate a stylish topknot.
Some very inventive bracelets begin to appear.
Threaded pearl beads bound with twisted wire emulated precious materials.
The
simple and effective technique of rubbing lengths of wool-tops to felt into a
band, tie a loop knot at one end and thread a button on the other, and
hay-presto, an instant bracelet is created.
There was also some experimenting with photographing the shadows created
by a little wire figure to lovely effect.
The session had a hushed silence as everyone concentrated on their
intricate creations.
Very relaxing.
