In this case, the stencils were printed on to white cotton fabric bags… ready to use!
The trick to remember with this, is to
put folded sheets of newspaper inside the bag, so that the paint doesn’t bleed
through both the front and the back of the bag.
The technique takes longer when
working on fabric, and at a larger scale.
Some of the designs require intricate
and careful cutting out.
Other designs lend themselves to
overprinting, so the initial base colour was printed and left to dry.
“ one minute I was enjoying myself, the next
it was the end of the session!”
